Hello again!

Yes, we're back...to rainy Vancouver. It was a lovely holiday - although it didn't get off to such a promising start. The night before we left, Lorenzo had to rush me downtown to the endodontist to figure out why I was in so much pain. I was given a prescription for antibiotics and pain killers. That night, the whole family slept except for me. At 4am, I woke everyone up and we headed for the airport. As we were boarding our flight, suddenly it became apparent that our son left Lorenzo's carry-on somewhere at the food court. This bag contained his i-pad, video camera, paperwork, etc. A huge fiasco ensued, the bag was located at the lost & found, employees raced across the airport to get it to us (because Lorenzo refused to board the plane without it) meanwhile, the pilot is honking the horn, everyone is freaking out....

The flight was great, and boy...when you step outside in the thick humid air of Mexico, you just find yourself grinning from ear to ear. They hand you a margarita as you're walking out of the airport. So by the time you get to your condo, you're already half gooned.

It was twelve days of bliss, for the most part. Lorenzo ran a red light and got pulled over, so that was kind of funny. They drive like maniacs in Puerto Vallarta, all of the streets are cobble-stoned, everyone is blaring their horn, and it's very stressful..especially if you have three teenagers crammed into the back seat, bickering over someone's leg rubbing up against someone else's.

We swam with dolphins and a sea otter, got tossed around in the ocean, walked the streets every night, went to sleep with the sound of crashing waves outside... It was incredible.
Lorenzo fell into the pool on the day we were leaving and his Blackberry got destroyed, which was unfortunate but also very funny.

Mexico is stunningly beautiful - to come home to gray skies and rain makes us wonder, yet again, why the hell we live here. My serotonin has already dropped. I miss the sunshine, the brightness, the vivid colours of Mexico. My daughter wishes we could move there, but we both know that we'd have to live with bad hair days every single day. The humidity turned my hair into out-of-control ringlets. I think I could live with that, though...

I intended to post pictures, but something is WRONG with Google - a lot of people are complaining that they can't upload pictures, so this is really frustrating. I'm hoping it gets fixed.  A blog without photos is pretty boring.

Well, I'm off to the cottage on Friday morning to paint all the trim. When that's done, Lorenzo will head over and install it. Then the floors will go down and we'll be ready to move our stuff in. Spring Break is March 16 - that's the day we are praying we can finally start enjoying our little shack.

Ciao for now!
